Yes Chef
Let’s get cookin’! At the beginning of the pandemic, some of us were furloughed making banana bread or picking up a new skill—and although I did bake up a storm, I was also in a long-distance relationship missing my boo. We were both feeling uninspired, so we decided to take on a personal project together. He was in the middle of a coding boot camp, and I was making magic in the kitchen—wishing I had a cool app to use.
That’s how Yes Chef was born. Coded by my boyfriend and designed by me, the social cooking app features recipes, virtual cooking classes, and mouthwatering foodie pics. I wanted the design to be sleek, simple, and inviting, but also fun and bright. To achieve this, I sifted through old Italian cookbooks, and incorporated some fun vintage type into the logo and typography. The colors are rich, captivating, and complementary throughout. Although we didn’t get the project completely functioning, we learned so much working on something new—and hanging out together on Zoom.
